A Little History

Our two-story Italianate residence was built in 1885 by Theron H. Ink and has been a Napa Valley landmark for more than 130 years.

After various incarnations as a residence and bed and breakfast, the Inn has been elegantly furnished and all luxury amenities have been added, making it one of the Napa Valley’s most luxurious boutique inns.

Bringing to life the notable history of the residence has been paramount in the thoughtful redesign. 

Drawing from Theron Ink’s remarkable achievements, we have incorporated accents and decor throughout the Inn to help share this story. Ink is widely considered one of California’s most successful agriculturalists and a significant contributor to the history of the State. As one of Napa County’s early settlers, Ink arrived in California from the Midwest in the quest for gold and purchased the property, known as Helios Ranch, in 1878.

The Inn was also home for Elvis Presley during the filming of “Wild in the Country” in 1960.

In 1985, Helios Ranch was recognized by the National Park Service and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
